Pearls & Perils

In last weeks Pearl of the week we spoke about removing toxic situations from our life, this is something we have to constantly do as there will always be toxic influences around us that if we are not mindful of will affect us in one way or another. Something very toxic that we are all capable of becoming is selfish. No one likes to admit that they are selfish but I'm sure that we have all been selfish in at least one point in our lives if not countless times. Unfortunately we live in a society that is filled with people who only care about themselves and how they can get ahead in life irrespective of who they hurt in their pursuit for success. Some people would betray their own family if it meant that they could get ahead in life.

It is much easier to be selfish than it is to be a giver, quite frankly being selfish comes naturally to us. The act of giving without expecting anything in return is something that we have to consciously set our minds to do. I must admit this is NOT easy to do at all especially when you have had a negative experience in which you gave your time, effort, trust and resources to help others and they didn't appreciate it or didn't show the same consideration when you needed their help.

But don't allow negative experiences or ungrateful people to stop you from being a giver, if you are in a position to help someone around you help them. Irrespective of whether you will receive something in return. Helping someone is not simply limited to money but extends far greater than this, perhaps you can give your time, share your knowledge with someone who needs your guidance, even something as simple as listening to someone can have a huge impact in someones life.

In this week analyse and see how you can become a giver to those around you, what can you do or change that can have a positive influence on someones life. If you are already someone who is a natural giver, continue this. Whatever you sow in life is what you will reap, if you are a giver in turn you will receive; but don't be the kind of person that does things with second intentions or likes to brag and tell the whole world what they did for others.

Have a great week, why not start being a giver by sharing this blog with a friend.

As we've entered into a new month and the last trimester of this year it's important to reflect on how the past 9 months of 2019 has been for you. Whether this year has been a good year for you so far or perhaps a year filled with difficulties, the most important thing is what you intend to do within the next few months. You can either decide to give up on the goals you set at the beginning of the year or you can decide to keep pushing despite your current situation.

Sometimes in order for you to progress, you need to withdraw yourself from toxic situations which hinder your growth. If you surround yourself with small minded people or those who constantly complain about life with time you will also begin to think and perhaps even speak like those people. Similarly if you surround yourself with people who have ambition and are actively going after their goals; I'm sure you will begin to mirror those positive qualities.

Within this week analyse all of the toxic things that you need to remove from your life whether it's places you spend your time, things you listen to, things you watch, the words you speak in relation to your life or other peoples, perhaps you may even find that there are certain friendships or family members that you need to maintain a healthy distance from for the sake of your peace of mind. Once you remove what is toxic from your life, you will see that things will begin to flourish in a way that it didn't before. In this last trimester of this year abstain from toxic situations, protect your peace at all costs and surround yourself with people who are a positive influence.

'Failure to plan is preparing to fail.'

We all have 24 hours in a day and yet some people utilise their time more productively than others. We've all found ourselves saying that there isn't enough hours in a day, but the truth is there is enough time. The key is learning how to master your time by prioritising how you spend it.

If you don't consciously plan how you're going to spend your time, other things will always take priority over your goals. From tomorrow we have 3 months left of 2019, what were the goals you had at the beginning of the year?

If you don't already have the habit to, take the time at the end of the week to plan the following week. Breakdown your goals into smaller steps and make a list of the specific actions that you need to take in order for you to achieve your goal.

Each week as you plan your week, work through your list of actions and make yourself accountable to them by reviewing your process throughout the week. Always write them down in a place where you can easily access them like in a notes app on your phone or a notebook, find what works for you . Failure to plan is preparing to fail, but don't set yourself up for failure by setting unrealistic goals in the time period you have. Break them down into smaller actions which will aid in you achieving your goal. Your Finance P.T
